The District is seeking to fill a vacancy on its governing board from Voting Area 2. If you are willing to learn, have a desire to serve your community, and are a resident of Voting Area 2, we’d like to hear from you.

The Goleta Sanitary District is an award-winning water resource recovery agency that collects, purifies, and reclaims water, energy, and nutrients from wastewater. We maintain 135 miles of collection pipelines within our boundaries and also serve the greater Goleta Valley through established agreements with the Goleta West Sanitary District, UCSB, the County of Santa Barbara, and the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport. We have proudly served the community for over 80 years.

Voting Area 2 is generally located north of Cathedral Oaks Road, from San Pedro Creek to Camino del Retiro, and adjacent to Highway 101 between Patterson Avenue and Turnpike Road. Applicants must reside within this area to be eligible for appointment to the vacant Board position.

Board members serve four-year terms, receive compensation, and participate on one or more standing committees that typically meet once a month.

Through our onboarding process, you’ll learn about special district governance, the responsibilities of a Board member, laws governing special districts, the history of our district, budgeting, and more. You don’t need prior knowledge of wastewater processes (though it’s a plus); we value your experience and enthusiasm for public service.

To be considered, submit an application and résumé by noon on September 5, 2025. Interviews with selected candidates may be scheduled the week of September 8, 2025.

You must live within the highlighted map area (Voting Area 2) and be at least 18 years of age to be eligible.

📄 📧 If you'd like to send a résumé in addition to the application, email it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
