New Tool to Forecast the Effectiveness of Treatment Process
The District has a new tool to forecast the effectiveness of the treatment process at our Water Resource Recovery Facility. This new tool is a process simulation model, developed specifically for our plant. The model shows how well the treatment process is working at each step in the process and allows staff to see how certain changes to the treatment process will affect water quality. Staff uses the model to determine the best way to run the plant in order to reduce cost and maximize effectiveness. This process would typically take months to complete. However, by using the model the timeline is reduced to a few hours. The model can also be used to train staff on how to resolve problems in the process before they become a serious issue. The development of the treatment process model is one example of how the District embraces excellence through innovation.
